Too Big for Beauty
She craves to fit the part:
Beautiful.
With a definition
That doesn’t come in her size.
The ugly truth gnaws at her
And she is no longer able
To stomach the reality.
She decides to feed a new demon
That gorges itself
On her withering self-esteem.
She hunches over, with her thinning body
Contorted in an unflattering posture.
As if the purge will help.
She doesn’t take the time to digest
The consequences that come from her actions.
Instead, her life will tastefully diminish.
Trying to measure up, by slimming down
To become what we know
As beautiful.
