A sea of white
trudges across the land
following the path traveled many a time before.
Continuously they are guided
in the same direction without a question raised.
Enticed by the shadow of their shepherd,
they continue their journey in the mindless herd.
Matching their brother’s route step for step,
they send a single uniform pulse echoing throughout the overused field.

All except for one with a different coat-
black.
He sits and watches,
amused as his “brothers” reflect
each effortless action of their leader with precision.
imagining a world without expectations,
he counts each innovative idea
as it dances through his head.

A visionary, determined to pave his own way
avoids the beaten path,
refusing to become
just another member of the herd.
