Don't Leave Me

I'm watching him die
He closes his eyes
And every time
I jump
Scared that he's left me
I clench onto his hand tighter
He opens his eyes
"Baby, I'm not leaving you"
He promises
I start to cry
He pulls on my arm
Pulling me closer and
Holding me
He kisses my head
"I promise baby
I'm alright"
I nod and try to smile
He hugs me tightly
I start to sob
The lights fade
And I awake from my
Recurring nightmare
He's left me
I know this
It's been 5 years
5 long..
Painful years
Just as the lights faded
From my eyes
He's faded from me
