In 1860, when I was a boy I heard gunshots being fired in the back .As a kid I want to figure out every single mystery. I went to ask mom if my brother and I could go outside.

“Mom, can I go outside to play?”I asked.

“Sure, honey. just don't get hurt.” Mom replied.

I ran like the wind to my room dressed like there wasn't time to do anything in the world other than getting outside, I grabbed my brother on the way out.

“I don’t want to go outside! Did you hear those gunshots?” he asked.

“Well ,thats why I want to go outside! Come on let’s go find out what’s going on out there.”

We hurried downstairs and shot out the door like we got shot out of a cannon. We went to play in the sand box.

“Are you crazy this isn’t a good idea to go and see all this stuff like shooting and blood?”my brother told me.

“Well, mom doesn’t mind it when you and me play fight.”

“Yeah ,I guess. can I at least come with you and check this stuff out?”

So quick when my mom wasn’t looking I ran as fast as my legs could carry me. We slowed down to catch our breath, I couldn’t believe it we were almost to the prairie where they were fighting. My brother was almost falling over he was so scared. Then we reached it,it was so bad I couldn’t believe my eyes.

Why I asked myself ,”why, why.”

Why did they do this then just as I was going to see a little bit more than.

“BOOM!”

Then I saw this cannon not 100 yards from me they spotted me and I stood there in disbelief. I thought they were going to shoot me.

“Hey, kid! what are you doing out here? get home!”

The soldier chased me and I ran as fast as my legs could carry me. When I reached home my mom was worried but she just said get to bed.
