E....
E.
Pests sprint through
every chamber within my
brain
A horror film electrifies both eyes
with each scurry
An arm,
a leg,
my entire anatomy
performs an unsightly
dance that
ceases to stop
with all disregard to the
screams, the sirens,
and the pounding
of my bruising body
against the surface beneath me
Ninety seconds seems like a
whole night’s sleep
when awakened by clueless medics
poking my body with what feels like
any instrument they can get their hands on
Red flashing lights fade away to
familiar eyes waiting
Are you okay?
Yeah,
whatever that means.
