I sit still on this cold, hard surface;
my eyes glued to the clock.
Every minute feels like an hour.
After twelve dreadful years
of twiddling my thumbs and tapping my feet,
I will finally be released.
No more sickening food.
No more wondering what it’s like in the real world.
Though I have gained so much knowledge,
I cannot wait for the freedom that sits just around the corner.
