lackadaisical
in this small piece of home
a small piece so alone
a pebble as big as a hand
a smile as sweet as a chance
pale flowers of pink and blue
a boy's wooden treehouse never tells the truth
his schoolhouse's teachers scold each lie,
as we hear his parent's disappointed sigh.
and even the skyscrapers looming above
are nothing in the eyes of love
the clouds that drift so high up
with rain that trickles in a cusp
streams stream into lakes and ponds
and into a river by dawn
a hundred seconds, and the oceans so blue
beneath dusty constellations all lined up in a queue
the earth, the sun, oh glory galore!
beyond this small galaxy, there's so much more
nebulas and comets and planet rings explode
bursting into a universe of whitened foam.
