Composed of Dust
Those eyes saw past my flaws.
You said it would take a lot to drive you away.
But here I am, without you.
Standing alone with nothing but memories.
I pushed them into a dark corner in my brain.
But you tapped my shoulder.
And they broke free.
Bringing hot tears and sleepless nights with them.
But I swallowed the pain.
Now my insides are burning.
I can’t handle how my heart is breaking.
But it was already broken.
The pieces are shattering.
Smaller and smaller and smaller.
But they fill in the emptiness of my being.
Soon I’ll be composed of
the dust of my destroyed heart.
But that will only last so long.
The wind will come and
I’ll be swept into nothing.
But that’s what I want.
