The raft of hope she once

clung to

with all the strength she had

evaporates.

She’s left screaming.

She kicks.

Begs the empty air

the clouds that scorn and laugh

anyone

to be pulled from

the abyss

of cold despair

filling her

murdering what little of her is left

over and over

She never knew

Hell

could be

so

cold

But what would happen

if she

fought?

Fought the demons holding her

fought the chain that bound her with such harsh metal

fought the abyss of cold hatred

Her exhaustion leaving her.

she can surface and breathe gasps of

merciful air.

The clouds just stare

as the girl they hadn’t bothered to save breaks through

and smiles.
