The Tension
I sit and watch the less fortunate
Students walk by.
Not knowing their lifestyle.
I observe as they get bullied by
Pathetic kids.
I wonder why they pick on the kids
With the hardest lives.
Walking sluggishly,
and sad eyes on the ground
As they shuffle their tired feet.
Mismatched clothes,
Worn sketchers,
Dirty tussled hair,
and a solid blank expression.
A girl hollering,
Looking up and down at a boy
With dirty shoes.
Saying “EW, look at those shoes!”
I sit there in hush
Wondering why and how.
So what if they don’t have
Name brand clothes.
Not everybody has
New Nikes,
Hollister jeans,
or Under Armor hoodies.
I sit in the
Cold Silence.
Never speaking my mind.
