Escape

There was a secret place,
That slipped from all’s view,
hear the crumbling rocks,
touch the sliding ground.
She walked once more,
through the moonlit path,
She ran once more,
through the beaten path.
There was an ocean,
Hidden by the draping forest,
taste the breeze through the pine trees,
smell the sand like silk.
She waded that night,
in the shivering water,
She swam that night
in the midnight water.
There was a willow tree,
Missed in its far away dwelling,
off in the distance,
in the center of the forest.
She climbed again,
for the weathered tree,
She reached again,
for the weeping tree.
There was a moon,
No one could possibly miss,
high in the air,
flinging its light wherever it could.
She crawled for the last time,
under the broken light,
She lay for the last time,
under the shimmering light.
There was an escape,
a mystery to all those but who needed it,
From infinity to eternity,
the time you spent there would always end.

Everyone has an escape, and this poem is just to remind them that although our escapes are wonderful and amazing while they last, they always end.
