The Start of Something Sinister
I woke that morning with hopes of great things.
Of friends to be made, memories to share,
Laughter at the best jokes six year old me could muster.
It was going to be an absolutely perfect day.
No one could tell me otherwise, nothing would deter me.
My hopes atrociously high as I laid awake in bed.
Fashion was of upmost importance on this great day
My hair was tied into fluffy pigtails,
Incredibly stylish, glitter embroidered capris on my legs,
There was no doubt I was the coolest kid around.
I ate my championship breakfast of Cinnamon Toast Crunch,
And with butterflies jetting around my stomach, left for the big event.
I walked through the doors of my first kinder garden classroom
Dazed with excited nervousness, I said goodbye to my mom.
We found our seats for the morning and enjoyed crafts and letters.
Everything was going as planned, I had even made a friend or two.
I sailed through my counting tests, the school tours: it was breathtaking.
Six year old me was the talk of the town, what could go wrong?
The disasters started as we lined up for recess.
Low and Behold I found myself standing in the worst place
Behind me was the biggest bully to see Skelly Elementary.
In their excitement to get outside,
The bully shoved me down onto my knees and knocked away my glasses.
Fashion statement ruined, crystal clear vision eliminated,
Ugly tan band aids gracing my knees for the rest of the day.
My perfect school day was ruined, and I gained a brand new enemy
