Unrequited
I fell in love with you;
I tripped; landed on the floor.
But as I fell (or tripped),
I also danced; twirled.
Danced for my love of you.
Saw the beauty in movement,
because the beat of my heart
was only for you.
But as I danced (or twirled),
and as I fell (or tripped),
I also cried; whimpered.
Cried because the unrequited love
of seeing you with her
burned my eyes.
And as my vision blurred with tears,
you took my heart
and you held it in front of me,
taunting me with your beautiful smile.
But the worst part is,
that as I tripped (or fell),
danced (or twirled),
cried (or whimpered),
I still loved you.
I still craved you.
Even though,
some way,
some how,
you were my brightest light.
But you were also
the chilling nights
that haunted my dreams.
