Thinking of Home
Sometimes I go home.
I am standing on the porch,
Looking out onto the lush green field.
It has just rained and I can smell the humidity,
The earthy scent reminds me of my childhood.
As I walk down to the beach,
The sand slides into my flip-flops,
And the rough grains scrub my feet.
On the dock the weathered wood,
Feels smooth underneath my fingertips.
The dark water froths at the landing.
I open my eyes and I am back, thinking of home.
