Alice Walker
African Americans migrate North,
they believe it will be great,
but sadly soon their dreams come crashing down,
after a while, all begin to frown.
Alice Walker a strong fighting African American Woman,
she respects herself and the way she is,
appreciating her culture and he beliefs,
she works for what she believes in and what she wants and needs.
African American rights were at a minimum,
Alice Walker expected happiness and she knew she deserved it,
she expected more and wanted her kind to receive better.
Growing up on a plantation in the south,
Alice Walker was shunned into deserving an education,
she followed tradition and helped her parents as a child,
her mother working many jobs to help only just pay for college,
she continued working for what she wanted and eventually got it.
Alice Walker growing up appreciated who she was,
she was a role model for all African Americans during the Harlem Renaissance,
she never stopped being who she knew she could be,
Alice Walker will forever live on as one of the biggest fighters of the Harlem Renaissance.
