A Baby's Cry
Your eyes are hazy
With glimmers of tears.
Your mouth is speaking
With a cry so sincere.
You shield me with your warmth
In your arms cradled to your chest.
As you bring me forth,
I awake from my rest.
My wailing becomes louder,
Washing out the pouring rain.
But even though I am crying,
I can feel even stronger, your pain.
You thrust me forward
With one last plea.
I feel another pair of arms stretch outward,
And you fall to your knees.
“Please, take her-
Care for her like your own.”
“I will care for her
And love her like my own.”
Her sobbing becomes distant,
The cold soon disappears.
I feel the heat warm me up,
As I lose what I held dear.
A set of voices talk
And the woman with the strange bosom smiles,
“From here on this is your home,
My lovely baby child.”
My wailing will not cease
As they struggle to comfort me.
My dear mother, I thought,
“…Why have you abandoned me?”
