Where Do My Eyes Linger

Driving in this morning on a day like any other my eyes hit the asphalt harder than the rising sun. This is no special day and nothing was done out of routine. And yet there she is. The reoccurring cancer of her memory in my mind. There she is in the unforgiving asphalt of the parking lot of the school she once went to. I think of the chair she sat in right next to mind in the small, hot classroom where we met. She comes to the forefront of my mind now in the form of a sharp pain. Every day it sinks another stone into my already heavy heart. Shes the temptation and frustration so bad it makes me cry. I grab the only thing she left behind hanging around my neck and hold on to the memory and i wonder. How long has it been? When and if i should ever see her again.

I think about her everyday and she is with me ever spring. This was about an almost lover that never was.
