Inhale for…
The summer nights in L.A.
when your brain won’t let you sleep,
so you take a ride
in that old beat up 1986 convertible cruiser.
With the top half down and rusty exterior
because it’s all you could afford.
But its ok
because your away chasing your dreams.
Shaking in a no bedroom studio
and partying late,
knocking out at half past eight in the morning
wondering how you got home
waiting to catch some kind of break.

Exhale for…
the good memories you can’t seem to remember,
because your living someone else’s dream.
Vicariously they are you.
Feeling like every day is an out of body experience.
Numb to the dull conversations,
footsteps that are traced every day.
A smile that’s genuinely fake
but you front and keep telling yourself its ok.

Inhale for…
The sound of rain
tap dancing on window panes
in that second floor loft
in Seattle where the clouds never part pouring down rain
more than all the bullets fired from every solider.
From the Roman Empire war of 27 bc
to the war on terror of ’01
and counting.
The acts of Mother Nature that forces everyone to take shelter.
All except those who aren’t afraid to get wet,
the ones that tell the cool droplets of water
on warm sensitive skin.
Who learn to jump on every formation of water.
Rejoice when the clouds thunder
and let their sins be washed away feeling reborn and exposed
like natures true beauty.

Exhale for…
The Namaste’s
that allow you to cleanse your soul of petty bulls***
friends who have an outreached hand higher than lady liberty
A generation that denies proper education
Laughs at those who asks the teacher for clarification
In hopes that one day they can
Change The World

But for now we settle
In our everyday 9 to 5’s
Dinner at 6:15
and lights out by 9
hitting the repeat button over and over again.
