All you ever find at the bottom of bottles is glass

And if you’re lucky the last few sickly sweet drops you had never been desperate enough for before

I know there’s nothing there

And yet every night I go looking for you in the bottles lined up like soldiers on the mantel

I dig my fingers deep into the ashtray, hoping to prize free a lipstick coated Marlboro

Some reminder of you, one grown tree in a brush cut field

We just felt profound because we were drunk

You can’t find enlightenment at the bottom

But at night you can mistake the glint of glass

For gold glowing in the moonlight

Even if you are the only person who reads it Im ok with that, as long as someone takes something away from it its worth doing. As far as what it expresses no need to quantify your interpretation as opinion, any sort of fiction once it leaves the mind of its creator becomes effectively property of those reading it. It dosent much matter if I say the curtains are blue and mean simply that the curtains are blue, if you or anyone else takes that as symbolicially resonante who am I to argue, because ultimately language is about how we come across, not how we wish we would come across. once again thanks for reading and taking time to comment, that means a lot to me.

I don't understand how you haven't got more comments praising your work - it seems like i'm the only one who reads it. But you should know that your poetry is beautiful and for me it perfectly expresses futile searching and lonliness (that's just my personal response)
