The Cabin
Wood creeks under foot
Lightning illuminates
The dark world outside
Thunder gives a short
Yet loud round of applause
The middle of nowhere
Darkness fills
The cold air
Thunder shakes the ground
Underneath
Water coming down
From the ceiling
Pouring its salty wetness
On me
A fire
Is of no point
Candlelight
Is of no warmth
I know
I am not alone
A cold gust of wind
All light disappears
Steps outside
Squeak and splash with fear
I can fell death
Crying out my name
With a clap of thunder
A hooded figure
Appears in the doorway
All I can see
Is the reflecting light
Of its sharp scythe
Fear consumes my well being
Praying that light will soon reward the sky
My whole body feels as though
It’s going to sleep
My vision goes black
All I hear is interference
And in an instance
I am gone
