The razor vs. the pen
Instead of the razor
I pick up the pen
and write all the thoughts
running through my head.
It doesn't cause me pain.
Yet it calms my soul.
It doesn't end the rain.
Yet it tells the story to be told.
It's not messy and bloody
but it does leave a scar.
Not on my skin
but deep in my heart.
It does for that brief second,
make the pain go away and
distracts me from all the troubles
I don't ever want to face.
Just like with the razor
it does have to end
because our problems can't be fixed
with a razor or a pen.
so allow the pen
to be your sword
allow the words to be your blood.
just let your memories
be your scars
they are something we will always have.
we will always come back to our reality
even if we just want to run and pack
to any source of normality.
So why pick up the razor
The scars will remain
and instead of letting go
you will remember all the pain.
Make it less permanent
and pick up the pen
because or else your pain
it might never end.
Look deep in to your soul
and write the story to be told
don't self harm
it will get you nowhere
i assure you that.
If it's a distraction
It will soon end
So what is the difference
If you pick up the pen.
