I am the Moon
Sunbeams are the kings, the rulers
 The brightest of the bright
 The smartest of them all
 Sunbeams go to Harvard
 And to Yale
 And especially to Princeton
Sunbeams are the embodiment of my goals
 Sunbeams are the royals

 I am not a sunbeam
I do not shine as radiantly as the sun
Nor do I blunder in darkness and despair like the sky
 On a moonless night
 I am the moon
I wear no crown, I bear no gown for I am no royal
 I am the moon
And although I cast no light of my own,
I reflect the brilliance of the sun
I am no sunbeam, I am no queen

 I am the moon
 I am ever-changing and everlasting
 I absorb the brilliance, light
That the sun beams upon me
 But I am no sunbeam
 I am no royal
I aspire to someday be one
But as of now I am not
 And that’s okay
For I am the heir, I am the moon
