I am the great mummy Tutu
Once the loved pharaoh of Egypt
A brother and sister,
Thirteen kids, eight husbands

Seventy-nine years of ruling
Ninety-seven, still on the throne
I drowned in the Nile
My people were dismal

There is a cut in my left side
My organs are getting removed
They are wrapped and then dried
Placed in canopic jars

My stomach in the jackal jar,
My intestines in the falcon,
Human holds my liver
Baboon carries my lungs

My body, wrapped in fine linen,
Layers upon layers of cloth
Jewels are placed in between,
The layers of my wrap

I am brought to my pyramid
It is the tallest in Egypt
Inside is my great tomb
My walls are lined with spells

The Book of the Dead, on my walls
The Eye of Horus and the Ankh
Used to protect, preserve,
And bring to afterlife

My sarcophagus, solid gold
All the things I need for the afterlife,
Are placed beside my corpse
I will live forever

My three-thousand years are peaceful
Until someone disrupts my sleep
An archeologist
Here to take my treasures

Her name is Sara Morrison
She has all of the tools she needs
To take me from my tomb
And now she has begun

Sara explored all my wrappings
For amulets to make her rich
I watch as my body
Gets taken out my door

Staring at a cold, glass case
This is now forever my home
The Museum of Fine Arts
In Boston, U.S.A.

My organs are across the room
Still in their clay canopic jars
Animals line the walls
All of them mummified

Curious children touch my case
People take pictures with cameras
Which I learned, are used for,
Capturing the moment

I will never be forgotten
My people will remember me
I’m the pharaoh Tutu
A mummy on display
