Testing
I hear machine guns echoing in the background,
or is it the scantron machine?
Either way I know what is coming.
The feeling of dread engulfs my soul,
and I am in a state of panic.
I try to escape by flying into my imagination,
but my anxiety soon pulls me back into reality.
It holds me, until I hear the clacking footsteps
 of my teachers heels.
The clacking sound makes me shiver
and I try again to fly into my mind,
 but the clacking breaks through
and I am once again sitting in the classroom.
I chew on my nails and gyrate my leg under my
desk—my nerves won’t let me sit still.
 She passes the test out
and I hear my lungs screaming for oxygen.
I know what is coming, but I cannot dare
 to face it.
She drops it on my desk and my fears were
correct—the letter D dances off the test.
It flies into my psyche and makes me see my future!
 NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
