Firsts
There is a first time for everything,
A first time to love,
A first time to kiss,
A first time to truly care.
A first time to doubt,
To lie, to avert your eyes.
A first time to hide an emotion from you.
A first time to cut a wrist
A first time to purposefully bleed,
A first time to not want to breathe
A first time to want to die.
For some, it’s no longer a first,
But a second, third, fourth, or fifth.
Many times a cut wrist,
Many times a few drops of blood,
Many times in which death is near,
Many, too many, times in fear.
Too much hurt,
Too much lies,
Too much broken,
Too much life.
So,
For the people like me,
With the firsts and the many,
And the too much of it all;
Who knows what will be the last?
One last cut,
One last tear,
One last love,
One last lie,
One last kiss,
Before we die,
One last life,
And one last breath.
One last chance to say
Goodbye.
