Invisible, Not Invincible
I sit at the table filled with friends;
Three empty chairs, the rest all stolen,
My bag on the table, the food nonexistent.
People pass by, running into my seat,
Not saying a word, as I go unseen.
Just another lonely soul,
Sitting without friends.
A few familiar faces look my way,
Just as fast as it happens,
I am forgotten
as someone new catches their eye.
Another chair stolen,
Another familiar face,
I may recognize them,
But in reality I am invisible.
I watch the lunch line grow and shrink,
And people who claim friendship walk away,
I realize it hurts deep inside,
That I am only invisible,
Not invincible.
