Lost and Gone

February 12, 2014
By Anonymous

A day ends long,
with a sunset reaching
across the sky.
The calm lasts longer
and holds silence close.
A sea hawk captures the air
under strong wings and dives
down, down, down.
Moments measured in the space of a breath,
time soon snatches away.
The fish slips
from talons back into the welcoming water
and disappears where none can take it again.
The sun sinks low into the sea,
but the horizon line lasts forever,
drowning in color.
Night begins soon
short of light.
