Come into my cell. Make yourself at home.
Peer in here, understand what it's like
to be trapped in a body that can't,
a body that won't.
Me, I'm energetic and hyper
jumping on everything and running around;
that is, I would be,
but I'm bound by the chains of my own body.
Legs that won't work as they should, no matter how much I wish
or how much I pray.
I'm a prisoner of myself,
my cell is my own flesh-
inside, I'm just like any other little boy,
but my body doesn't seem to understand.
And every night I lay in bed and pray
for legs that I can run with and jump on,
to not be trapped in this cell of mine;
to play football with my friends
and be a normal 13 year old, just once.
