Masquerade
I know
how hard it is,
to hide behind a mask.
I know
how easy it is
to blame everyone else.
I know
the pain it brings
to keep smiling everyday.
I know
that this pain
was brought to us, by us.
Every mask will crumble,
every wall will tumble,
every heart will be healed.
For no one
can hide forever,
not behind a mask.
Every masquerade will end,
every heart will be unbroken,
every wound will become askew.
Every eye will someday see
that the strongest of us all,
was not the one who felt no pain.
Every eye will someday see
that the strongest of us all
was the one who felt the most.
Not every heart will go unbroken,
not every soul will go unseen,
not every eye will see everything.
But I know
how much pain must be
for it to be seen beyond the mask.
A mask made of brick,
as shifty as the sand,
and breakable as glass.
I would know
the amount of pain it can hide,
for I hide too.
And I know,
that every eye will be opened,
that every heart will be healed,
that every lost soul will be found.
And I know,
that every masquerade will end,
and at the end of it all,
I'll be found.
