All That's Nearby
The golden shadows
bouncing
off the cliffs.
The majestic mountains rolling past.
And the stampede of the elk
near the creek.
Followed by
A grassy square
with four antler arches.
Then there’s the
Horses’ hooves a-clacking
The beeps of the cars a-backing
And hundreds
scaling the Grand Teton
not yet covered by snow.
Fields of
Monkshood, Fireweed, and Larkspur,
Gilia, Columbine, and Campion
never forgetting to paint a landscape
so colorful.
The shrieks of children laughing and playing.
The snores of an old man napping
on the rocks with a headdress.
And the shrill call of a magpie.
But in the midst of all that’s nearby,
no one notices the sky.
