Presence
Crocodile tears flawlessly executed
Eternal masquerade
Sinful nature under philanthropic guise
How long until it cracks?
Evil intentions springing in the heart
Reason! those fool philosophes ranted
But paranoia strikes, a single poisonous thorn
Enough to tarnish the most beautiful rose
Inescapable truth we must adhere to
So it was but Fate’s supreme resolve to
Deem I as our generation’s thorn
To nurture bloodshed, mayhem, doubt
To extend mankind’s insatiable desires
Natural processes intervene as always
Cementing reveries of solace and hopeless hope
Shattering like a fist through a window pane
Kindred spirits flood cathedrals under the auspices
Of sublime glass figures circumvented with light
Declared Holy by human hands
Confessions-- no words shall facilitate forgiveness
If they did, what will supply me vengeance, fueling
My otherwise robotic actions, my intricate schemes
Unfolding like chapters prewritten in golden script
I never received a crystal ball or talking mirror
Like those pompous witches, but I adapt
For omnipotent entities must rival expectations
