One night I dreamed I was walking.

There was only one set of footprints,

Always there for me,

Always with me.

As life flashed

You carried me across the sand.

Suffering from the defeat

Sorrow and anguish of life.

Only one set of footprints.

Lord, you carried me across the sand

Not walking with, but carried by.

With only one set of footprints

One set of footprints

That is the Lord’s

This was another assignment i received in Language arts class. the poem was meant to be based off of another poem that was important to us, and use only the words in the poem for ours, there was to be no plaguarism. this poem is Inspired by Footprints in the Sand by Mary Stevenson
