Wounds from Words

I'm tired of logging on to the internet

I'm tired of reading all these hateful comments

calling people f***, r******, and noobs

I'm tired of adults telling us to get over it

that it's just words on a screen from nameless faces

but these words from nameless faces cut like knives running down our throats

Like a piece of our soul and self confidence getting cut away after every comment

Then getting nagged at why we don't speak louder, stand straighter, and speak our minds

Maybe we'd be better people if we were understood

maybe we'd be less fat, be less hateful, be less cruel

Don't let it bother you, they say

No one is actually saying that out-loud, they're just blank words on an endless changing screen

What they don't realize is out-loud a strangers voice is the one spewing hate

Yet reading this monstrosity, we hear our own voice tell us that we're ugly, fat, and stupid

Breaking the bond between love and body

Breaking the bond between spirit and happiness

Breaking the bond between our mind and peace

Yet we keep reading for hope that someone else will love us

Giving assurance that it is OK to love ourselves

I'm tired of the endless scroll of hate and pain that rolls as fast as the forums can post them.
