The Cutter
She screams alone, trapped in her own mind
She can’t give up her blade, of any kind
She desires blood to take away the endless pain
But she is blind to the lack of gain
She is told that what she does is wrong
But she has to release it all to belong
She sighs, the blood is dripping to the floor
The pain and burn is all she feels, but she wants more
What if the scars, the blood, on her wrist
Make the pain-induced happiness become a myth?
What if her friends decide she isn’t worth it?
Would she survive that dangerous hit?
All she needs is someone to come into her life.
Someone who takes the place of her beloved knife,
Someone who shows her their own pained past.
To prove to her that this madness doesn’t last.
All she needs is the bravery, the courage
To throw the knives, the razors, the glass all away.
She needs that courage to purge
Her soul of this dreadful addiction
So she will no longer have this affliction.
