She Was So Beautiful In Death It Was A Wonder Why She Was Ever Alive

Angel
Soft wings flutter in the breeze
As the stone angel
Falls asleep once more
Only to be awoken by the kiss of death

A dangerous path
Straight from heaven to earth
Scratched and torn
Yet ever unbroken

Robes of white
Stained red with blood
And blue with tears
Fly in the harsh winds

A soft smile gracing her lips
She takes dagger to flesh
Overtaken by stone
Cheers for blood

Never broken
She sits alone
Empty courtyard
Before her

Softly she sings
Only heaven to hear her
As she slowly
Slips away again

Clouds come
Rain pours
Still she sits
Stone cold

Made of earth and blood
Touched by hate
Never tainted
But stained

White marble statuette
Coming alive in the morning sun
The first drops of dew
Covering her wings

She can fly no more
Earthbound and caught
Flaxen hair
Whipping in the wind

Quietly she sobs
Still left whole
Barely cracked
Yet shattered

Alone in the field
With the blood and tears
Weeping willows
Sob with her

She cannot find
Her way home
She does not know how
But she is lost

The sun comes out again
It’s soft rays
Kissing her frozen cheeks
Bring once again life

Wings unfurling
Eyes ablaze
She springs from her perch
Atop the rock

With a Harpies cry
She takes flight
Exploding into a wave of fire
As she flies home
