November's Last

Wake up to the new grey sky, to the birds who will never sing.
The lake which used to shine with a radiant gold now, seemed to be ringed with melancholy.
Sleeping in the green oversized armchair she would say
“Don’t wish your life away.” But, on a drive past the gold and, upon the red dirt road we realized wishes do come true.


The author's comments:
I hope people take away a sadness from childhood. From a summer they spent with their family away from the world. With this poem it's being with the family when tragedy strikes instead of peaceful family love.
