How it Felt
I remember how it felt.

My heart thumping triumphantly in my chest

 Palms sweaty

One hand a clenched fist at my side; knuckles ghostly white
The other dancing nervously around the hem of your jacket

Head spinning in a fog of feeling

Grasping desperately for any form of reality
My lungs were tight with anticipation

My eyes meeting yours as they made an understand
and my ears rejoicing as you breathed the words, "I love you,"

 Everything came together.
 Until it all fell apart.

 I remember how it felt.
