An Empty Shadow
I noticed the way you slurred your speech
When you stayed up all night drinking the pain away
I noticed how your smiles stopped reaching your eyes
Little by little and then it was gone
And when you disappear,
They will lie and say they noticed you
They may look at you,
But all they see is an empty shadow
They don’t see the bruises on your legs,
Or the cuts on your wrist hidden by bracelets
They don’t see how much you are suffering,
But I do
And I care
Because I once wanted someone to care for me too
