A wish
A child's dream
What everyone hopes for
But isn't as it seems

Some wish for money
Some for peace
Some of a toy
And their missing keys

But a wish can be mysterious
Funny and or strange
It's in the eyes of the beholder
Or those who are caged

Everyone has wishes
None too big or small
They may want to be famous
Or simply go to a mall

They rarely come as you ask them
No, not even close
They'll come as they deem fit
Maybe not at all, for most

You may wish for a dollar
But instead you'll find work
A person saying they'll pay you
And give you food as a perk

You'll grumble and groan
But you'll get the work done
Because you realize
This is more fun

No longer wishing for money
No, you'll wish for work
You liked the satisfaction
Of earning and the perks

A wish
No longer just a child's dream
Everybody has one
It's never as it seems.

I wrote this piece while I was at my church, thinking. I wasn't thinking of anything special, but I had an urge to begin writing. The first words that I wrote was "A Wish", and it just went on from there.
