Favorite Quote:
“For the life of her smile, the warmth of her voice, only cold paper and dead words!”

Oh the things you'll see and the places you'll go!
It doesn't mean much anymore
The stars have faded, the sky is black
Your brain is constantly under attack
The bullets shape it, alienate
Unrecognizable is all you create
Mangled words of what if's and why's
Swallow your brain and eat you alive
The wounds have swollen, you start to heal
With desperate attempts to finally feel
A thunderstorm comes, a tsunami hits
Again and again 'till you're blown to bits
The stars have faded, the flowers are dead
A battle is raging inside your head

The author's comments:
The poem first started coming together when I was travelling and realized that nothing I saw struck me anymore; everything seemed gray, lifeless. All my thoughts at the time seemed to contradict each other so it felt like there were two sides of my brain, consistently fighting with one another, making thinking an exhausting pastime.
