Growing up as a flower

At first we are all the same
Put into a room to wait
Wait for someone to notice that we are here
To pick us up
To take us home
T find our talents
To be excepted no matter what our color
To be loved

Bathed in toxic gases
Told to make us stronger
For that is what is needed for this store to survive
For the world we will go to war

Orchids poised and fragile
Taken by an influences family
To be raised as a lady

But we were not given the easy ride
Taken away by a strangers hands who will decide our fate
That smells of chalk and expo
We are grown

As time goes the difference is inevitable
The red roses the striking iris
Young and lovely are taken to the theaters
To bathe in the stage light

The Tiger Lilly too strange to be excepted
Too wild to be rejected
Goes off to bring her thoughts into reality

The shy Violet left timid
Spends time in her cubical
Eyeing the cute boy
Unable to express how she feels

The Pasque most common of them all
Most unregarded one among the many
Untended, unloved, untamed remained

The sun burned her petals
As she waited in the shop for someone to take her home
The store sees she's nothing special
And lowers down her price tag
It's not like she means anything to anyone

She is but a fleeting moment
A mistake and a failure
Just because she's not red

The author's comments:
This piece refers to three things at once
One: an actual flower shop where people take flowers home
Two: growing up at an orphanage where the flowers refer to different types of girls
Three:being a teen in general and knowing that we are the next to inherit the war may it be the economical one or a real one
