A casual outing

we pulled up slowly
saw dust splatters the wall
blades being thrust
into pieces of lumber
twine binds the wood
then thrown in the trunk
we wait to see the remains
you can’t stop thinking
about tuesday
about the path carving
circles into the forest
the banks of the river now
slightly higher
as bricks come to lay at rest at the murky bottom
