The Young Ones
The worst age possible.
Judged, confused, disrespectful
these are the words used to describe us
but what if it's really them?
We are trapped in the middle like a person in quick sand kicking and screaming to be saved.
Screaming in a desperate cry for someone to hear and come running.
But usually no one comes.
We hear the same lectures over and over again:
"Be happy, stop complaining you guys have it easy."
But is it really truly all that easy?
Kids taking 5 A.P. just to be consider "smart"
Kids participating in 6 after school activities to be consider "active"
Kids working so hard at their jobs just to have some money and not to rely on their parents.
All we want is the independence.
So why is it that adults treat teenagers as if we don't matter?
Maybe it's their fault that we act so "rude"?
Because it's the only way to protect the little dignity we have left that they haven't torn down.
Maybe it's really their fault and we are the
"perfect ones."
Because hey they are the ones who raised us.
