Broken Vows
Marriage was followed by forever – well that’s what I was taught.
It’s what happens when two people synchronize in one heart,
Well that’s what I always thought.
Sometimes seeing mommy on weeks end
And daddy here and there,
It was a bond I knew I could not mend.
House to house, so on I went
Questioning how this had happened,
And the potential size of its dent.
Always wishing I could simply see
The two hug just once.
All this combat -- Too big of a fee.
I swung on the swing at dad’s,
And played dolls at mom’s,
Being two different daughters drove me mad.
Having two different bed times,
A million and one minutes of arguing and
Five Dr. Seuss books to filter the shouting with his rhymes.
Sometimes a tear or two trickles down my cheek
Hoping love would find its way back,
A different life I desired. Just a tiny peak.
