Fear

A free verse poem by Jake Frank

As I stroll through the depths of Fear,
I continue undaunted.

Fear is a cobra, squeezing and squeezing,
Until all life from you is gone.
But if you squeeze back,
Does Fear lose its life?

Everyday, I see people afraid,
Cowards, trembling, terrified

Why be afraid?
When you can just scare Fear.
Send it back to the hole,
From which it came.

Fear is a deep abyss,
You can fall in or go around.

Once you fall in, there’s no going back.
Until you hit the bottom,
The stone cold floor of your dreams,
Haunting your every hour.

Fear is ice,
Freezing your heart.
Creeping into your thoughts,
Unable to control it.

I, I enjoy Fear.
I refuse to let it control me.

I walk alone in the depths of Fear,
And I fear nothing.

I hope people get from my poem that fear is something you can control. You define fear, fear doesn't define you.
