A deep slumber.
Nature is sorry.

The sound of thunder.

Quiet.

Quiet.
Except her breathes.
Her body.
Ready to rest.

No words.

No words
to be spoken.
She will not be awoken.

Her heart.

Her heart.
Depleting--
Why is it I'm still breathing?

Her there.
Me here.
The world we are in,
We do not share.

A touch.

A touch.
Helpless. We try.
But that a kiss can save her?
That is a lie.

Further.

Further.
Deep into this sleep.

Slipping.

Slipping.
Only memories to keep.

Memories.

Memories.
Happy ones in my mind.
But to be physically here?
The privilege is not mine.

To talk. To laugh.
We do all the time.
What if you had to kiss that goodbye?

The only hugs
Are inside.

Quick.

Run.

One last breath
Until mommy is at rest.

We watch.
Quiet.
The shouts are blurs.

Cramming.

Cramming
These last words.

Her heart.
No beat.
Yet not a defeat.

For cancer.
Cancer
Is stuck in the bed
Cancer
Is the one that's dead.

It is only cancer
That we kissed goodbye.
Our mommy?
She is flying high.
