Life of a Day

I am a piece of the sky
I am the soupy orange morning
The mash of clashing colors
Indigo darkness and startling peach
Swirls and eddies in the cottony currents
The hazily distant figures solidify
I am the burning horizon
The slow brightness of the new day

I am a piece of the sky
I am the too-bright noon
The cerulean sterility unmarred
Fierce energy emanating with yellow heat
Air abuzz with life and potential
The infinite ceiling hides the beyond
I am the promising immensity
The dynamism of the progressing day

I am a piece of the sky
I am the waning flushed evening
The cooling gradient of complements
Darkness drains into the tangerine remnants
Cloudy edges flare sharply with dying light
The slowly sinking light dips into the dusk
I am the beauty of endings and beginnings
The softening glow of the twilit day

I am a piece of the sky
I am the starry stippled night
The dark culmination of the daylight
Inscrutably beautiful and darkly vivid
Pinpoints of light from long past
The connection of the ancient and future
I am the brightest of darks
The soothing conclusion of the rounded day
