My Blazing Heart
My hair is as set and still as
a mountain’s core and as sharp as grass.
My skin is as tough as whale in the arctic
waters.
My eyes are as brown as a kiwi
but as keen as an owl.
My ears are like craters; echoing with
many sounds.
My heart is like the sun’s heat that blasts
across the world.
My hands are worn as smooth rocks in
the calm river bed.
My legs are as powerful as a jaguar’s limbs
as they seize jumping prey in the jungle.
My stomach is as vacant as a cave lost
in the vast mountain ranges.
My voice is like the carrying wind;
not felt at first, but touching everyone.
When I laugh, it is as loud as a monkey or
as unnoticed as a quail.
And my smile is like the spanning ocean.
