stand up before it's too late
Walking through the school yard,
And sickened by what I see.
All this hatred,
But nothing that surprises me.
You all know it happens,
Don’t act like you don’t.
Just because you don’t say anything,
Doesn’t mean that I won’t.
It’s wrong, it’s stupid,
It’s unfair, it’s unjust.
But the fact that we let it happen,
Leaves me with feelings of disgust.
How would you like it,
If the victim was you.
You would beg for everyone’s help,
I know because I did too.
No one tries to help them,
Until it’s too late.
So they think there’s only one way,
Only one way to escape.
My childhood friend Timmy,
Was bullied at sight.
It never made sense to me,
He was always so polite.
Maybe that’s why they picked on him,
He would never say anything.
They saw Timmy’s weakness,
And took advantage of his innocence.
Everyone said it’ll all be over,
And everyone said his future was bright.
But when no one stood up for him,
Timmy took his own life.
I could’ve saved my friend,
I regret it to this day.
Ever since Timmy left me,
My world has been gray.
I won’t let it happen again,
I hope you won’t either.
If we all work together,
We can make sure it’s over.
If you see someone get bullied,
Don’t hesitate, that’s silly.
Go and help that poor kid,
He might be another Timmy.
Timmy is gone now,
So the bullies call a truce.
He didn’t die because of what the bullies did,
But because of what we didn’t do.
