Society
They say society killed the teenager.
I don't believe this.
Society doesn't tell you to kill yourself.
They didn't tell you to starve yourself
or to hate yourself.
What society did was give you the tools to do these things.
Whether intentional or not,
Society did kill us in a way.
They also say society is only an enemy if you conform to it.
But how can we not conform to the daily norm?
It's all around us.
To be happy is to be like everyone else.
Skinny, beautiful, smart,
Perfect.
I don't believe this either.
Except, sometimes what we believe contradicts our actions.
Just because I don't believe what society says,
doesn't mean I haven't already conformed to it.
Because I have.
So in a way,
society did kill the teenager.
Whether intentional or not.
